The Blue Mountains are located around 65 km / 40 miles from central Sydney and are part of the Great Diving Range. With some breathtaking scenery, popular bushwalks, gorges, mature gum trees and spectacular scenery, the Blue Mountains get their name from the blue haze that surrounds them, which is actually a fine mist of evaporated eucalyptus oil from the trees.
